  • Yeah, Time for “People Mountain People Sea” again, Avoid These Crowded Areas

    Post by : expatree

In China, there is an old saying describing huge amounts of people gathering around one place together as “Mountain” and “Sea”. During the China´s National Day holiday, it’s never a surprise to encounter this “impressive” scene every year. It was just reported at the beginning of October, that several well-known travel spots were already swallowed by waves of visitors. For example, one of famous sites, West Lake Duan Qiao, the so called “broken bridge” accepted 8000 visitors within only 1 hour.

  • “Excuse me, where is the Broken Bridge?”
  • “Just under your feet”
  • “But where is the West Lake?”
  • “Sorry, I’m still looking for it, too many people in my eyes, I cannot find it!”

It was frequently asked by visitors. Well, we cannot stop the passion of visitors but it’s strongly recommended that you should avoid the following places for a visit during the national holiday. Particularly for those expats who are visiting China for the first time.

1. The West Lake Broken Bridge in Hangzhou
Besides its beautiful landscape there are several old stories behind it, some traditional love story adds a uniquely romantic touch. In travel book, the picture shows:

But when you are visiting this spot during national holidays, it is suddenly:

2. Tian An Men in Beijing
Most expats are thinking Tian An Men is the most solemn place in the capital city, it would be a good opportunity to take a closer look to absorb the atmosphere.

Now you need congratulate yourself on this visit with just a glance, regardless of how far you are!

3. The Palace Museum in Beijing
A most comprehensive museum in China, was established on the basis of the imperial palace of two consecutive dynasties - the Ming (1368-1644) and the Qing (1644-1911), it should look like:

Let’s forget these historical architectures, artworks and imperial palace, the remaining impression is only PEOPLE!

4. The Great Wall in Beijing
The Great Wall, one of the sights of the world, the landscape of is like a dragon. Most visitors have long dreamed of paying a visit to the Great Wall.

It has to be said that the “Great People Wall” has been made from the remaining Great Wall:

5. The Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing
Class AAAAA National Scenic Area, one of historical spots recommended in travel book.

What are you feeling now after observing the crowds in this photo?

6. Jiuzhai Valley (Jiuzhaigou)
Jiuzhaigou is a scenic resort famous for its beautiful lakes and mountains, its beauty cannot be captured by words.

Due to too many visitors, you would regret to come anywhere near this area.

7. Mount Taishan & Yellow Mountain (Huangshan)
Viewed from the top of Mount Tai , the sunrise is indeed a spectacle. On the other hand, Huangshan rocks make the mountain a natural museum of sculptures.

However you might never have realized how difficult it is to climb to the mountain top against the people who are going down, you are told to be extremely patient and wait for countless hours in the queue.

8. Fenghuang Town in Hunan Province
Literally it’s translated as “Phoenix Town”, being acclaimed as the most attractive ancient town in China. As more and more hot spots are over developed, Fenghuang still remains its original ecology and nature.

It’s really sad that once people flood in, the cultural foundation is lost.

9. Zhangjiajie in Hunan Province
Do you remember “Hallelujah Mountain” in the film “Avatar”? “Avatar” movie director admitted he sent his crew to the site during preparations for the movie's alien planet scenes. The "Hallelujah Mountains" were then modeled as the prototype of “South Pillar of the Heaven”.

Thanks to this famous movie, it brought up a huge amount of visitors meanwhile making the location quite unpleasant during the holiday time.

Some “unwelcomed” travel spots during the national holidays are not fully listed. You might be surprised to find the “People” trouble is not only occurred at the spots but also happened before and after the trip, no matter the gateway you are taking. Well, pick up a proper date or go anywhere else is a smart choice in order to avoid this traffic, even staying at home for a quite rest is better, don´t you think so?

On the way by taking train in the station and car in the highway

Finally Happy National Holidays to everyone!
